Suck It Up and Move So You Can Take Action Now

suck it up and take action now www.janeaneword.com

It is magnificent to find a way to take action now so you can suck it up and move. We all have plans, ideas, and things we need to get done each day. Each of us creates those plans, ideas, and lists of things to get done with optimism and good intentions. In an ideal world, we would move from task to task floating on clouds of satisfied accomplishment. However, we live in a real-world full of distractions, disturbances, and disappointments.

Your plan may be to get up, get the kids and spouse out of the house to school and work then go into your office with a cup of something hot and delicious. Things look good at 6 am, then child number one ignores you and the alarm clock and misses the school bus. Child number two throws up last night’s dinner all over the breakfast table and child number three. At that moment your spouse enters the kitchen to tell you the car has two flat tires and the car battery is dead. In other words, it is a typical morning.

At this point you have a few options:

  • sit down and cry (avoiding the vomit if possible)
  • have a fit and run from the house screaming
  • give up on the idea of getting anything done today
  • suck it up, get the vomit cleaned up, give your spouse roadside assistance information, arrange a cab ride for child one, a doctor’s visit for child two, and get three a new outfit then, get to that cup of hot and delicious an hour or two later than originally planned

You have a choice in how you handle the things that appear along the way to derail your plans or take away your joy. Life happens and you decide how to handle the off-topic things that happen during the course of your day. In other words,  life is full of distractions, disturbances, and disappointments but you must still suck it up and move.  Life happens and life goes on, you must find a way to productively move on and get things done.  Each person has a well of strength, a thing inside her that makes her find a way when there is no way in sight. Each person has a source of power that allows her to continue on when all those around her have given up. I am a church girl, so the thing inside me is God, the Holy Spirit. You must search yourself, look into your heart, your mind and whatever it is that makes you the person you are, and find something you can use over and over again when you need to suck it up and move.

In conclusion, it is magnificent to find a way to take action now so you can suck it up and move. So, the question for you this magnificent day is, when are you going to suck it up and go so you can take action now?

  1. I am going to move on from the drama in my life so I can achieve my goals…that is my TAN plan of the day!

  2. I love the quote – I have to admit I say that a lot. Oh just suck it up and go on!

  3. I love the title of this post! Sometimes I really do just need to suck it up and take action! Sometimes it’s just what you need to do to get a move on things.

  4. I am a go with the flow kinda person. So I am pretty good with the suck it up and move part. But some days I only get through the day by reminding myself that at some point…at the end of the day..I will get to go to sleep again!

  5. Ok so if all that happened to me in the morning I think I would really just give up. I’m sure I should just suck it up but I don’t think I can deal with that much happening at the same time.

  6. Hahaha I think at that point my husband would just take the metro, and I’d be stuck with all 3 kids. Or maybe I could beg him to stay home (through all of my tears). 😛

  7. Yup. There are many moments where I just have to suck it up. And sometimes that sucks

  8. Very inspirational and dead on. Don’t let the crap of this life get you down. “Shake it off” and “Let it Go” and DANCE and make your life amazing 🙂

  9. I think taking a few moments to cry, pray, meditate, whatever is fine. Then buckle down and get it done!

  10. “Move on” is my great motto in life.

  11. This is such a great reminder that the only way to get anything done is just to suck it up and move on. My mom calls it pulling yourself up by the bootstraps, and it is a mentality that I have always grown up with.

  12. I love this… we have this saying in our home, suck it up and move on. I don’t want to be harsh, but it is just life.

  13. Agreed! Cry and scream and pout as you work lol you can’t change what has happened, you can only react with the best result in mind. Happy Monday : )

  14. Every day is like this for me these days – but I can’t let all the bad take over. I suck it up and keep moving on even though I might have to bitch to myself about it.

  15. Do you know how many times I feel like telling people this, i get so tired of hearing people complain about silly things. Great post!

  16. Yep. I think that’s why the “Let It Go” song from Frozen is so popular — we need to just suck it up and move on!

  17. Oh, I’ve literally found myself standing in an inch of freshly puked vomit on my way out the door to work…thanks to a sick kiddo who had poor puke awareness skills. Mind you, Dad was at work already and two other kiddos were in the car waiting to go to school and daycare?! Totally normal day around me. 🙂

  18. I get distracted way too easily – and that is why nothing gets done around here 🙂

  19. Chin up and move on is hard but the way it has to be. Life is short and we don’t have time to wallow in self pity.

  20. I’m already in the “suck it up” camp. I just don’t see how self pity helps me get my goals accomplished. There’s always going to be something throwing me off track. I just have to get back onto that track as soon as possible.
