It is important to find a way to have fun things to do on a computer. There is more to life than work.We work to care for our families. Use your technology to have fun and a more balanced life.
All work and no play makes you boring to your friends and family.
In my work as a writer, blogger and business consultant, I use a computer, tablet and smartphone. Technology is such a major part of my work, I find it hard to understand people who are afraid of technology and shout about avoiding screen time. Each day I created documents, spreadsheets, presentations, emails, social media posts and multi-media presentations. I do research via the internet. My to do list, calendar and time sheets are managed with technology rather than with pen and paper. For me, technology is serious business. My technology is great for work.

At the same time, I recognize that technology can be and should be fun. On my devices I have apps to read books, apps for magazine subscriptions and listen to audio books. I have apps to play word games, checkers and chess. I have apps to listen to music, watch movies and look for fun activities. My technology is great for fun.

Entrepreneurs sometimes have tunnel vision. It is not uncommon for an entrepreneur to spend every waking hour working – doing work, researching work, networking for work or thinking about work. When you are an entrepreneur trying to build, maintain or grow a business, work is important. At the same time, most entrepreneurs also have families and friends. Family and friends need, want and deserve time and attention.
Just as entrepreneurs spend time working and doing work related activities, entrepreneurs need to spend time preparing for interactions with friends and family. Use your technology to stream television shows your family and friends watch. Use your technology to keep up with current events in the news. Use your technology to learn about things your family and friends care about. Believe it or not, the internet can actually be used to search for fun things and things other than your business interests.

So, the question for you today, are you ready to pick up your phone, grab the family and do something silly like Pokemon Go?
I think it’s about balance. There’s nothing wrong with it as long as it doesn’t overtake your life.
My kids and I love to play Pokemon Go! We have so much fun playing and it brings us all together.
I agree with you 100%! We have to make time to have fun and I am just getting into Pokemon Go and my daughter and I are having a blast! Since she’s hit her teenage years, this has been great for bonding again!
Because I use technology for work, it slips my mind it can be fun too! My kids have found a great balance between their online school work and playing games.
Hmmm, I think my son may be the only one in this house who uses technology for fun. I’m always working on my computer and even my cell phone. I’ve never really thought about it before, but I guess it’s time to do something fun with our technology. I suppose even a lunch break with some fun intermingled would be nice.
Definitely forget the definition of fun when you’re caught up with work. I take breaks now to have fun with the kids.
I have been trying to break out of my comfort zone and do new things. Pokemon Go has been a fun way to get exercise and the kids are having fun to.
I think I am at the point where I am trying to break away from the boring. I want to have more fun and create a good balance.
This is so true! Taking away the fun will make your work and even your life boring. I’m so happy that technology could bring us fun while working.
I use technology for work all the time. I almost forgot that I used to use it for fun. LOL
I like to do a lot of different fun things with my family. Sometimes I forget that I need to do more of that and less of the work. It’s a great reminder to do stuff with your family because no matter what kids grow up faster than what you think.
Pokemon Go isn’t for me but I do love word games. I try to find a balance between work and fun as often as I can.
I use my technology so much for work I sometimes forget about using it for fun. I will have to take the time to have more fun.
My husband is IN LOVE with Pokémon go! Haha but I am on the too much technology sometimes.
Well I haven’t tried Pokemon Go, but we do try to have fun with technology as a family. We often use iPads to stream videos/music before bed and I’ve become quite good at my daughter’s favorite game on the phone – Subway Surfer.
I am totally not into Pokemon go… but my brother is. LOL. We always had the no tech at the table rule and sometimes I find MYSELF bending it and I have to remind my self to not do so… Tech is such a large part of our lives, now
I agree. There are way too many gadgets out there not to enjoy as many of them as possible.
