Take Action Now – Take a Look in a Book

learn to TAN in a book www.janeanesworld.com

It is magnificent to take action now and to know you can read a book to learn how. In order to get things done, one must learn to TAN aka take action now. All the planning, research, and preparedness training in the world will accomplish nothing until a person steps up and takes action. The following is my favorite example of the take action now principle.

Five birds were sitting on a telephone wire when three of them decided to go to Florida for the winter.
Question: How many birds were left?
Answer: Five because deciding to do something is not the same thing as actually doing something.

It is important to plan, to research and to prepare for whatever it is you want to do. The problem is that many people spend so much time on those steps that they never get to actually doing the thing that is the cause for all the planning, researching and preparing. One of the reasons that people do not take action now and get things done is that they do not know how. While this is a legitimate reason for failing to act, temporarily, it is no excuse. If you are in a position where you need to take action now, but do not know how to take action now, pick up a book and learn what you need to know.

Once upon a time, long, long ago, the only place a person could get books was to buy them in person at the local bookstore or borrow them at the local library. Fortunately, things have changed for the better. Today you can get books online. Technology makes it possible for us to get books on our computers, laptops, tablets and cell phones. No matter what your work hours are, technology enables you to shop for books so that you can buy them in paper, electronically or borrow them from your local library 24 hours per day, seven days per week and even on holidays.

I remember as a young girl discovering microfiche and being amazed at how many pages of information could be stored in such a small package. As a young girl, I dreamed of having my own microfiche to carry around in my book bag. Today, I carry an e-reader with 1,000 books, magazines and documents in my purse. The e-reader program on my smartphone has another 75 books. My tablet device is new, so it only has 10 books so far, but don’t worry. It will catch up to the others shortly. The information I once dreamed of carrying in my book bag is now tucked away in my pocket!

Of course, there are books on every subject under the sun. No matter what you need help learning how to take action to do, you can find it if you take a look in a book. Let today be the day that you take action now and pick up a book to learn how to take action now. Imagine all the good you can do and all the wonderful things you can accomplish once you start to read books and learn how to take action now to accomplish your goals and missions.

In conclusion, it is magnificent to take action now and to know you can read a book to learn how. So, the question for you this magnificent day is, what are you going to learn when you take a look in a book?

  1. I am all for the paper book experience. Three shelves full in my house! Also feeling good, because I too some action today towards getting a whole lot of stuff done… finally.

  2. I shamefully admit – I do not like reading. I prefer watching documentary movies and informative shows. My daughter loves reading, and I can tell she learns a lot from it.

  3. I definitely love how easy it is to find resources nowadays. I’m starting to appreciate e-books more and more too.

  4. I love to read – I am addicted!! I use my Nook and phone for Kindle – but I do love the feel of a good book in my hands.

  5. I just love books and have an extensive library on my Kindle. I used to buy the paperback and hardcover books but when Amazon released their very first Kindle I was there. I’ve done some upgrades in the past and just can’t do with it. My toddler is just like me and would bring lots of books for me to read. If you want to learn something books are always a good way to go. So is google lol 🙂

  6. In some ways, I was writing about taking action as well this week. I absolutely love reading to find out how to do the things I need and to research my plan. I love my e-reader as well – but nothing beats the feel of a book in my hands. I remember spending hours in the library looking through old newspaper on microfiche to find information. Even a few years ago, I was showing my Mom how to use microfiche to research genealogical information. I think I am just a research junkie.

  7. I love reading real books, I love my ereader but there is nothing like a real book! I too love the smell of a book!

  8. I love to read too. I also research things a ton too so this post definitely speaks to me.

  9. yes this is so very true! Don’t let lack of knowledge hold you back! You have the ability to learn what you need to, to be successful! 😀

  10. Whenever I want to learn something about anything, I look for books about it. There is a lot of great information online, but nothing beats a book by someone who has done what you want to do.

  11. I love to read and am happy to say i have instilled that passion into my children. Reading is so important

  12. I had the hardest time explaining microfiche and microfiche readers to my children. It is amazing how time makes certain technology seem prehistoric!

  13. I’m one of those people who prefer to read from a paperback vs. an e-reader but still read quite a bit on my tablet.

  14. Yay! I love reading books. I’m actually part of a book club, and we read a variety of genres, which has opened my eyes to a whole new world.

Speaking of getting things done now, I really like to read Do the Work by Stephen Pressfield..he talks all about the blocks that prevent people from moving forward. It’s a good read and a good refresher when you’re stuck.

  15. Ooooh, I remember microfiche. I used to have to search for documents on it for hours at my first job.

  16. Alisha I do really like my e-reader, but you are right. There is nothing that feels like a paper book in your hands, turning the pages and smelling the ink, Mmmmmmmm, the whole experience is such a joy.

  17. e-readers are such neat things if you really think about them and how far technology has come. I love being able to fit everything on one little device, but I also love the feel of a real book in my hands.
