Be grateful for work because it gives you something to do each work day.

In order for life to have meaning and to truly be worthwhile, it needs to serve a purpose. Work provides a purpose to life. Of course, work is not our sole purpose for living. But, it cannot be denied that work does provide a purpose. It gives us a thing to do and a place to do it. It doesn’t matter if a person works as a housekeeper in a hotel or as the chief executive officer of a Fortune 500 company, work provides purpose. A thing that provides purpose, makes a person necessary. A thing that makes you a necessary part of the world must be respected and appreciated.

Take a moment now to think about the work you do. No matter what that work is, it is not done in a vacuum. Your work is part of the larger economy. When you earn money from the work you do, that money is spent and invested. That means that other businesses are able to earn and invest money. The work you do, makes it both necessary and possible for others to have jobs.

The ability to get up and have work to go to each work day is a thing to be treasured. Activity which causes you to use your mind and your body is a good and great thing that should be appreciated. Do not shrink away from the idea of getting up and going to work. Indeed the ability to have work, to have something to do is a thing to be treasured and appreciated.
