Entrepreneurs, even if you don’t know what a touchdown, quarterback or field goal are, you can learn from the Texans v Broncos football game last night and from Monday Night Football.
Entrepreneurs should always be learning. Like good football players, they should keep their heads on a swivel, always ready to learn. Entrepreneurs who are smart know they can learn something new every day if they try. Smart entrepreneurs can learn from Monday Night Football.
Here are three lessons that can be learned from the NFL and Monday Night Football.
1. Don’t get ready, stay ready.
2. Competition is good.
3. Be in it to win it.
Don’t get ready, stay ready.
Football fans all over the United States know what happens in Monday nights. In the fall, Monday night is football night. The fans count on this fact. Advertisers depend upon this fact. When it comes to your customers, your business must be a rock steady presence. When you set office hours, keep them. When you set a deadline or a meeting time for a customer meeting or interaction, keep it. When it comes to satisfying your customers, don’t get ready, stay ready.

Competition is Good
Football fans like a game where two great teams fight it out for four quarters. They like competition. Of course they want whatever team they are rooting for to win. When it comes to your business, do not be afraid if competition. Use your competitors as a way of pushing you to do better at your business. Remember that iron sharpens iron and do your best to be a top competitor in your industry.

Be In It To Win It
When opposing football teams enter the field, they are playing to win. Even when a team with a 0 and 10 record goes up against a team with a 9 and 1 record, that 0 and 10 team thinks they can win. They leave the locker room and run out onto the field ready to win. Copy that attitude when it comes to your customers. Start each assignment as if you will do a wonderful job. Each time you interact with customers act as if you will exceed expectations.

As an entrepreneur, never forget that there are lessons to be learned in everywhere. Step up each day ready to learn.
