Share Your Secret for Balancing Work and Home

Today more than ever, there is a need to discover the secrets to balancing work and home. The Covid-19 virus has forced many people to work at home who have never done so before. These people are experiencing for the first time are looking for secrets for balancing work and home.

Keep a schedule

In my world, it is important to set a schedule. I set an alarm clock and get up at the same time every morning Monday through Friday. When the alarm goes off I get into work mode. Now that my children are at home for school, I include helping them with school in my workday activities. There is a set time for me to eat lunch each day. I stop work at the same time each day and go for family time.  I set a schedule and stick to it. Sticking to the schedule is one of my secrets for balancing work and home.

Get up and get dressed

In my world, it is important to get up and dressed each workday. This one is easy for me because each morning I share a “Confidence Tip of the Day” video on all my social media channels. I do these videos first thing in the morning because it forces me to get up, get dressed, and put on my power red lipstick.

It is important to get dressed for work each day, even if the outfit is your casual Friday outfit. If you wear your pajamas to work and then still have them on at dinner, it is easy to blur the lines between work and home.  On the other hand, if you wear one outfit for work and then change into another outfit when work hours are done, it is an easy way to separate work and home. Getting dressed for work is one of my secrets for balancing work and home.

Set aside a workspace (no matter how small)

In my world, it is important to set aside a workspace.  It is tempting to work in bed or while laying on the couch. That is a mistake because it makes it harder for you to separate work and home. Instead set aside an area, even if it is a small area. No matter what area you pick for your work area, only work in that area. Do not hang out in that area when you are not working. This is extremely important. Setting aside a workspace is one of my secrets for balancing work and home.

Give yourself  a break

In my world, it is important to give myself a break from time to time. As you go through living your life and trying to balance work and life some days will go amazingly well. Other days will be horrible. On bad days you will mix up the time for work meetings and your children’s school meetings. When those bad things happen, you must give yourself a break. When those things happen, acknowledge the mistake, apologize if necessary, and then keep moving. Don’t beat yourself up. That serves no purpose. Giving myself a break is one of my secrets for balancing work and home.

To sum it all up, in order to successfully balance work an home keep a schedule, get up and dressed each workday, set aside a workspace, and give yourself a break. So the question for you this fantastic day is what is your secret for balancing work and home.
