It is terrific to take the mystery out of technology by going to the store and touching it. Advertisements on television, the internet and in print media show us all kinds of new and exciting technology and devices on a regular basis. In addition, by doing research on almost any search engine or store website, we see photos and descriptions of all kinds of technology. The photos, videos, and descriptions make the devices look quite wonderful and exciting. I have seen commercial for pieces of technology that made me literally drool with desire. These advertisements, no matter how beautiful, detailed and vibrant are all missing something. I am still left with a desire to reach out and touch, feel and hold the device.
No matter how much we like to shop online, and increasingly, more and more of us do, there is nothing like going into a store, picking something up and feeling it. If you are interested in a new device, a new piece of technology but are a little nervous or even afraid of the device, one thing you should do is go into a store and actually touch the device. If you want a new tablet device, great. Put down your laptop, smartphone or store circular and go to an actual brick and mortar store and pick it up, touch it and try it out. When you go into the store and touch the technology and hold the device in your hand, you understand what it weighs, how it feels and if it will fit in your purse, pocket or briefcase. By putting the device in your hand, by seeing how it fits into your purse, you get a real sense of how the device will fit into your life.
Think about it this way, you want a new camera. You want a lot of features and you want something you can carry in your bag and pull out with ease. By going into the store, picking up the camera, holding it up to your eyes and seeing how it fits into your actual purse, you have a better sense of which model of camera will work in your life. After all, if it is too bulky, you won’t carry it. If it is too flimsy it will get damaged under real-life conditions. There is just nothing like picking it up and trying it out. It is also nice to have store personnel you can look in the eye and ask questions and get answers in real-time. So the next time you want to buy or are curious about a new device or new piece of technology, go to the store, pick it up and try it out. Who knows, you may just get over your fear and come home from the store with something delightful!
In conclusion, it is terrific to take the mystery out of technology by going to the store and touching it. So, the question for you this terrific day is, what piece of technology are you going to go to a store and touch?
I shop a lot online too, but if I’m buying technology, I like to go test it first.
I shop online a lot. I’m kind of a pro on it.:) so far, I’ve bought most of my gadgets online without regrets.
I would like to go touch the new Ipad Air or my future phone the Nokia Lumia.
I rarely shop online. I would rather go to the store and see/touch the item I want to buy. When it comes to buying gadgets, my husband would take time doing research and reviews online then go to the store to actually see it first hand before deciding whether to buy it or not.
My husband has the Surface RT and it is amazing. I want the Surface Pro too!!!!!
We always play before we buy. I can’t buy a digital device just by looking at it online, I have to see it in person first.
I like to look and feel when buying gadgets.
I totally agree about touching and buying! I like to order repeat items on the internet…but new stuff I like to touch before I buy.
I do agree with you. I too like to go to the store and being able to see the thing I want and touch it and sample it before I buy. But because we live farm from malls and any stores I end up buying online, which is also a risk. I do have my share of ending up with things that aren’t really what I thought or things that wasn’t right and I actually didn’t like it. I do rely on reviews too online to decide whether or not I should buy it.
I go in shop first to try the products I want to buy. I also check reviews online. In this way, there will be no regrets.
I do some shopping online, but I do love to go shopping in stores and really check it out!
I read reviews of certain products or electronics if i wish to buy one. I have to ensure myself that before i invest or spend my money, i would know that it’s the right product, there is no such thing as perfect at all. something is missing that that’s what manufacturer’s do in order to have more device and earn more money, like you after the review researches. i would feel comfortable of seeing the product in person or even touch it, to see if it’s what i want.
i agree! i love to be able to test things out before i commit to buying them
I like to try things out before I buy it! Can’t wait to test out the new iPad Air.
A tablet! It’s the one thing I don’t have!
I do agree woith ypou. Although I love online shopping, there are items that I want to buy at the store.
I think its a great idea to go to the store and touch and try out technology. It takes both the fear and mystery out of using it, and a great clerk will point out some things you may not find out online.
I used to work in IT so I have no issues buying online. My mother however is not very tech savy so I always take her to the store to take things for a test drive. It is better to try it out for a little bit than to order it and realize you do not like it.
Catchy title and love the quote image! 🙂 I like looking at electronics in person before I decide to purchase them. I did this recently with a new camera lens I purchased online for cheaper than in the store.
I have only ever bought phones online a time or two. I generally always buy tech items in the store.
I absolutely have to go touch and try a piece of technology before buying it. There are just way too many features that you need to see before buying.
Agreed, you must try it out first before you actually buy it!! There’s no way I’d ever buy a camera online without getting the chance to play with it first!
I still prefer buying my gadgets at the store. I am not so keen of buying it online.
There is not much in the world that I would buy without “touching” it first. I guess that is a sign of my age. This is a great post!
I am all electronic gadgeted out – my husband has bought me within this year a laptop, iPad and a iPhone. Love them all! So glad he bought them, for now this is all I need!
I usually try out my friends’ first – play with it a little to see if it’s even for me. Then I go into the store to really explore the tech before I get it!
i will probably touch all the robotic toys in the mall lol!!
I really need to do that more often just to make sure it’s comfortable to me before actually buying it online!
I’m with you Janeane! It is important to go and try out the gadgets you want to buy! I would like to go and touch an iPhone 5S.
We usually buy our gadgets online because it is easier to compare prices.
I always like to see in person when I am researching a product I want. You are right that if it doesn’t fit you – you will be disappointed
I love playing with the new tablets. Because they’re still relatively new to the market there are distinct difference between the different brands and I JUST HAVE to go touch it.
You are so right! There are some things you just need to physically check out before buying online without ever having touched or seen them. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been disappointed when something arrives in the mail looking nothing like it’s fabulous picture!
My husband is definitely a “got to go to the store” technology purchaser! I’m much more comfortable buying those things online than he is! I think I’m okay with it because I do a lot of research before I buy anything?…and he usually is the gadget buyer anyways! lol
I have to see technological gadgets and shoes (have to try them on and walk around in them) in person before buying. 🙂
i so want a surface pro
It is fun to head to the store and really pick up something new and learn all you can from it. I think it also takes the confusion out of it too.
I have to admit when it comes to buy a new phone I do like to go to the shop and have a play with it before I buy 😉 x
