Entrepreneur, even if your business is small, it's a business, so run it like a business.

If you rush and do a bad job the first time,  you will need to find time to redo the job. It usually takes less time to do the job correctly the first time, than to have to do it again later. As an entrepreneur, you must always remember the idea that if you fail to plan you plan to fail. Create a business plan for your business. Then, use that business plan to run your business. As circumstances and the marketplace change, change your plan.

A business plan is not an optional item. For a well-run business, it is a crucial tool. Your business plan tells you what to do, when to do it, how to do it and what you need to do.
If you have a plan that you have not looked at and do not review on a regular basis, create a new one and follow it. If have a business plan that you look at but do not follow, find out why you are not following it. Then make the adjustments necessary to work according to the smart plan you develop. You will be glad you did!

Keep in mind that you will always get better results when you prize working smart over merely working hard. As an entrepreneur, particularly if you have a small business you must do all you can to put systems in place that allow you to get things done correctly the first time around. Small businesses are in an enviable position because there is less distance between those making the decisions and those carrying them out. This proximity makes it possible to get things done quicker and more efficiently. There is often a difference in how people think things should work and how they should actually work. Recognize these differences and plan accordingly.
