Emotions Are Sometimes Crazy On the Job Hunt

Emotions are sometimes crazy when you are on the job hunt. Don't worry if it happens to you. It is okay to be emotional when you are looking for a job. At the same time, in order to succeed, you must learn to channel those emotions. Looking for a job is an emotional experience and that is okay. The job hunt can be a very emotional experience. It doesn't matter if you are a traditional 9 to 5 person looking for a job or an entrepreneur looking for new business. The emotions can be intoxicating or overwhelming because they are so strong at times. All of that is okay.

Anger

It is not uncommon for people to feel anger as they search for a job. If one has lost a job unexpectedly, unfairly or in a bad manner, you may be angry as you look for a new job. Additionally, if you have been looking for a job for an extended period of time, you may be angry that the job hunt is taking so long. Anger is a reasonable emotion to have under these circumstances. However, you may not allow the anger to control how you act or how you respond to events that occur while you are looking for a new job.

Emotions have their place in the business world and on your job hunt.

Often in the business world, we are told to ignore our emotions and look at the facts objectively. In some cases, that is good advice. However, it is not a hard and fast rule that should be followed no matter what. There are times when emotion is not only appropriate, but a good thing to show in business circumstances. When you have failed at an important mission, missed a deadline or almost lost your job, it makes sense to feel upset, sad, angry or disappointed. For example, when you have met goals, exceeded expectations or successfully complete a project for a client it is appropriate to have feelings. Under these circumstances, it is appropriate to feel happy, successful, confident or even joyful.
