Commit to Read for Yourself

read for yourself

Make it a habit to research current events for yourself before you form an opinion.

When you are in the habit of seeking out information and reading for yourself, it is easier for you to form opinions based on facts and good information rather than rumors and half-truths. It is always a good habit to get a full and complete story about things that are going on before one makes statements to others. Today with the power of the internet and social media when you give an opinion about something that opinion can instantly reach people around the world. In addition, opinions you share via the social media and the internet lasts long after opinions change. For these reasons, you must read for yourself and make sure your opinions are based upon the full story, not half stories.

reading is greatFun – Reading a Good Book Can Be Fun
Reading can be fun. There are lots of people who would like to be readers, who like to read fiction and non-fiction, mysteries, humorous stories, sad stories, stories about war, stories about peace, good books, bad books, business books, religious books and self-improvement books. I like almost every type of book. I am different from most people. Many people who do not consider themselves to be readers have a favorite type of book, a type that they pick up and cannot put down.

reading is funLearn to Love to Read
It is sensational to love to read. At its simplest level, reading is the act of looking at groups of letters , determining that the letters are words and purring those words together to convey information. Most people learn to read when they are children. In the beginning, we learn to read so we can learn. Later we read so we can learn. The truly fortunate among us, begin to read simply for the joy of reading.

reading is fun

In my opinion, the best time to read is all day every day and twice on Sunday. In 2012, the Pew Institute participated in a study to determine how many books the average American reads in a year. E-readers read approximately 24 books per year and traditional book readers read approximately 15 books per year. In a good year, I read about 50 books per year. In a great year, I read 75 books per year. All that reading takes time. If you are a working mom like me, with a husband, 4 kids, a dog and a cat, life is busy. It is sometimes hard to find time to read. It reminds me of the expression – “get it in where you can fit in.”
