You can either take action now to create the confidence you want or you can sit back scared. There is no reward to be found in living scared, so step up, show up like a grown up and make your world what you want it to be. Today is a great day to claim what is yours.
Take Action Now to Create the Confidence You Want
If you want to be confident and successful, you must do the work to create that confidence so take action now to do it. Wishing you were confident and hoping for confidence will never make the confidence appear. You must do the work to make it happen. Here is my favorite story to illustrate the point.
In Philadelphia there were five birds sitting on a telephone wire talking about plans for the winter.
Three of the birds decides to go to Florida for the winter holidays.
Question: How many birds were left on the telephone wire.
Answer: Five because deciding to do something is not the same as actually doing something.
Take a moment now to think about a situation where you need confidence. Make a picture in your mind of yourself in that situation standing tall, confident, successful and happy in that situation. Is it easy for you to see yourself acting confident in that situation or is it difficult? Does confidence come naturally to you or do you have to work hard at it? Do you always find a way to get the confidence you need to do what you want or do you find yourself often lacking the confidence you need in situations?
If you find it hard or impossible to summon up the confidence you need in situations, be encouraged, you can still make it happen. It is all about knowing your place in the universe. If you know that it is hard for you to be confident when you need to be, the solution is simple, plan in advance. Start by pulling out your calendar and looking at the things you have scheduled for the next week. If one of the things on your schedule is something that normally requires a lot of confidence and that fact scares you to death, start with that event.
Write down the event – use pen and paper or pull out your favorite electronic device. Next, write down all the things about this scheduled event that zaps your confidence. Then write down a way to defeat all of those confidence zapping things on your list. Words have power. This means that by writing down the event and writing down solutions for all the confidence zappers you are starting to take power over the things that zap your confidence. It also means the confidence you desire is close at hand. So you see, all you need to start having the confidence you want is your calendar and something to write with!
