Whether you take action now to complete your plans or continue to decide to complete your plans, time will pass. The sun will rise and set and the seasons will change. The difference is, if you take action now to get your plans done, you will accomplish your goals and be satisfied. If you do not take action now, your plans will not come to pass and you will feel dissatisfied and regret will grow. Over the course of time, if you continue to make plans and fail to act on them, you will cease to have confidence in yourself. This is a dangerous thing. There are few things sadder than a person who has lost confidence and belief in herself. The good news is that you have the ability to change this picture. The difference between being successful and confident and feeling like a failure and full of regret is all within your hands.
This is a situation where you need to step up and put on your big girl panties. It is okay to be scared. Sometimes it is even common sense to be scared. But, scared or not, if you want to get things done, you must take action now and move forward. Start by realizing that there will never be a perfect time to take action now. No matter when you act, there will always be something telling you to wait, that a better time is coming. Eventually, you must bite the bullet and take action now to do what needs to be done.
If you cannot figure how to move forward, think of the story of the little engine that could. For those not familiar with the story, here is a short version of it. There was a little engine that had to go on a long scary journey. The engine didn’t know if he would succeed or not on his journey. He started off down the track and all along the way he encouraged himself by saying, “I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.” No matter what the obstacle, the little engine pushed forward, never wavering from the tracks and always repeating, “I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.” Eventually, the little engine reached the end of the journey and declared, “I thought I could, I thought I could, I thought I could.”

That same method will work for you. Start off talking to yourself, encouraging yourself, inspiring yourself, motivating yourself to move forward. Each step along the way, tell yourself you can do it. Picture the little engine in your mind. In the beginning you may have to tell yourself you can do it, every ten minutes, so what, do it. If you continue to encourage yourself, over the course of time, you will only need to say the words once an hour, then once a day and then even less. You will accomplish what you set out to do.
Take time now, right now and think about that big thing you want to do and keep putting off. Now imagine how you will feel when you have it completed and are basking in the glow of success and completion. Take action now and get moving on it!
