You can stop procrastination if you learn to make your bed. Almost every person alive knows what procrastination is and has succumbed to it at one time or another. What makes one person a success and another a failure often is how one handles the pressure to procrastinate. If you have at your disposal a variety of weapons designed to battle procrastination, you may win the war. Learning to make your bed is another weapon in your arsenal.

For many people, procrastination begins before they get out of bed in the morning when hit they snooze button two or three times. This fact makes a stop procrastination tip using the bed as the main focus a good idea. People often say, “you made your bed  so lay in it.” When it comes to procrastination, perhaps a better way to look at the idea is to say, “you made your bed so you can lay in it.” This may be a better idea because you make your bed in order to lay down in it later. No one wants to wait until bedtime to search the house for clean sheets, blankets, and pillows. Life is much better if the bed has been made in advance. This same idea works when it comes to chores at home and duties in the workplace.

Just as you make your bed in the morning so that it will be neat and ready for you to climb into at night, prepare for your day. In other words, set things up so that they will be ready in a timely manner. For example, if you have to go to the market in the morning, make sure you have your shopping discount card, coupons and shopping list ready the night before. That way when you get up in the morning you can grab your things and go.  When it comes to the workplace if you have a presentation to do, prepare in advance and make sure that all your materials, note cards, and power point are prepared in advance.

When you prepare in advance you are more likely to have everything organized, in place and in good working order. When you prepare in advance, you can take your time and alleviate some of the pressure felt when you wait until the last-minute and have to rush to put everything together. Advanced preparation may help you win the battle against procrastination because it helps take away some of the pressure of being forced to perform immediately. Often we procrastinate because the job we have to do is hard, cumbersome and requires a lot of work. Advanced preparation takes away some pressure because it allows us to work in a timely manner at a pace we set for ourselves, rather than a pace set by circumstance.
